Marriage Monday: ‘There’s More to Me Than You’ Edition
So many times, I sit across from women who feel lost. They’ve poured everything they had into their children and their marriage and they feel depleted. Left with only pieces of who they use to be and who they one day aspired to be.
So many of us are guilty of this. Giving everything we have to be a wife and being a mother. So much so that we allow friendships, hobbies, talents dreams, and ambitions wither away. Until one day you realize those beautiful dependent humans you helped create need you less and less with each passing day.
Or maybe you realize you placed your dreams and career on hold for your husband. Only to realize he’s not willing to do the same for you. As women, we must realize that a requirement of motherhood and marriage isn’t losing your identity or giving up your dreams.
Sure, those dreams may have to be adjusted, the sacrifice may even be more then you anticipated but holding on to your own self-identity is worth the price tag. Never allow those around you to make you believe you cannot maintain your own identity outside of your role as a mother and wife.
I love my children.
I love my husband but even Papa knows, there’s more to me than him…
